Since that time, Cooper has used his legal knowledge and experience to assist Long Islanders in relieving the high burden of debts, including credit card and medical debts, while protecting their home and other assets. In doing so, Cooper has assisted countless Long Islanders in saving their home from foreclosure through bankruptcy and foreclosure defense.

Outside of his career, Cooper resides in Halesite with his wife, Elizabeth, a speech language pathologist with the NYC Department of Education, and two sons, aged 4 and 6. Cooper is involved with various community organizations, including the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce, where he serves as a Board Member, and the Huntington Lawyers’ Club, where he previously served as President. Cooper is a 2018 graduate of the Leadership Huntington Program. Cooper is raising his children in the same community he grew up in, showing his desire to dedicate additional time, effort, and resources to that community through representation in Albany.

Capital Improvements
Cooper is determined to fight for Long Island’s fair share of taxes in the New York State Budget. As a donor region, Long Island taxpayers contribute a substantial amount to the state budget. However, it is important that Long Island be adequately represented in Albany to guarantee an appropriate portion of the budget comes back to Long Island for capital improvements.
Clean Water and Renewable Energy
As an avid boater and mountain biker, Cooper is committed to fighting to preserve Long Island’s beautiful ecosystem. This includes seeking to preserve the harbors and waterways from dangerous runoff and leaching by expanding fully enclosed septic system tax credits and grants for the expansion of sewer systems throughout the area. Additionally, Cooper will seek to bring Long Island more clean energy from renewable sources such as solar and wind to avoid the overrelianceon outdated fossil fuels.
Supporting Families on Long Island
Cooper is dedicated to expanding child care tax credits, child care provider grants, and universal pre-kindergarten. The high cost of childcare presents an untenable position for many parents. Cooper believes the benefit of increasing access to affordable childcare will pay long term dividends in community building for future generations.
Cost of Housing
Working as a bankruptcy attorney, Cooper is aware of the high cost of housing on Long Island. Cooper believes in the expansion of affordable housing across Long Island, as well as additional housing incentives to retain skilled labor on Long Island. The departure of skilled laborers from Long Island has seen numerous businesses follow suit. In order to attract business development, Long Island needs to attract potential employees.
ON THE ISSUES
Unfortunately, 2022 has seen the United States take several steps backwards on important social issues, including reproductive rights, smart gun control, and equal rights for all. Cooper is dedicated to protecting the rights of all New Yorkers by codifying rights previously taken for granted as the “law of the land”. Additionally, Cooper believes that the best way to serve Long Island is to focus on several unique issues facing Long Islanders.
